About Underhill Farm
We are dedicated to sustainable living by example
A Space To Find Peace
Underhill Farm is an eco-friendly guest house dedicated to sustainable living by example through upcycling, recycling, and reusing everything possible. The farm itself is a green oasis nestled in the Botrivier Valley between two streams and surrounded by apple and wine farms.
A poplar forest covers the stream banks and ancient oak trees provide shade along the other river bank. There are about 250 olive trees, a fruit orchid as well as a vegetable garden, helping to supply fruit and vegetables to guests and the local community. Everything you see was created with resources made on farm or built using materials that would have otherwise been thrown away by others. It is our passion to offer an educational space for our guests to learn about the hidden luxury in an eco-friendly lifestyle.
And if you’re worried about the drive, the best part is that Underhill is less than 100km from Cape Town but feels a world apart; making it an ideal private getaway to escape and relax even for a weekend.
Loadshedding? No problem!
Underhill farm has solar panels, batteries and inverters that supply the all the cottages with electricity.
As long as the sun is shining, there will always be electricity at the farm, and load shedding wont leave you in the dark! So if load shedding is getting you down, or if you need a place to work and want to get out of the city, Underhill is the place to be.
We're just off the beaten path
UnderHill Farm is located less than 100km from Cape Town, just off the R321 before Theewaterskloof dam, on the van der Stel pass that starts at the R321, and ends at Botrivier. The farm is on google maps.
Partners In Sustainability
We’re more than just a guest farm. At Underhill, it’s our vision to teach others about living sustainably and educate through the spaces we’ve created by making our learning process available to everyone! We’re also partnering with others who share the same vision for the future.
